Modifying Your Windows 7 Live Mail Account

This tutorial shows you how to modify Windows 7 Live Mail to work with your Icoastalnet.com e-mail account.

  • If your old provider was using IMAP or Exchange, you need to contact them to download a copy of your mail to your local machine before proceeding with this setup. Open Windows 7 Live mail, right click on the header for your old email account and choose remove account. As long as you are using pop mail with your old provider this will not remove your existing mail, just the settings for the account. You will be asked to confirm this choice and you should click Yes.

  • You will then need to click on Add e-mail account in the left column. A new window will open and you need to fill in your complete email address, your password, enter your email address in the Display Name box, check the box for Manually configure server settings for email account,  then click Next.

  • Please choose POP3 from the drop down box. Enter mail.icoastalnet.com for the incoming server. Choose Clear text authentication from the next drop down box and enter your complete email address in the Login ID box. Enter mail.icoastalnet.com in the Outgoing server box and change the port to 587. Check the box for My outgoing server requires authentication and click Next.

  • Right click on your account shown in the left column and click Properties.

  • A new window will open with 5 tabs.Click the advanced tab and check the last 3 check boxes on the page. Set the days option to 30 and click apply.

  • Click New to create a new email message. Enter your email address as the recipient, type test in the subject line and in the body. If you have more than one email account set up in your mail client you need to choose your new account to send from (It will display the info you entered in the general tab under more settings). You may now click Send. Wait 1 minute and click your Send/Receive button if your message has not been delivered to your inbox. If you do not get your message after 5 minutes, please re-check all of your settings and contact our support staff at 910-575-6095.
