The people of Richmond Hill have a great respect for the soldiers fighting overseas and here in the US. With Fort Stewart so close many military families live in Richmond Hill and are friends and neighbors.
That is why the Richmond Hill Lions Club, Bryan County Chamber of Commerce and the Exchange Club of Richmond Hill hosted a family picnic July 3rd to show their appreciation.
The picnic was held at Fort Stewart and thousands of troops and their families attended the event. The majority of the troops from FortStewart that had been deployed to Iraq for their third tour were home, so the timing was perfect. The three organizations cooked and served over 1000 free hamburgers and hotdogs, plus hundreds of soft drinks from 3:00Pm to 7:00PM. What a great way to say “thanks” to the soldiers and their families for the sacrifices they make every day.
